Terms of Service.

1. What Ned Is
Ned (“ned.dog”, “the Service”) is an educational health information tool for dog owners. The Service allows users to upload veterinary bloodwork, view health marker analysis, receive a biological age estimate, and access evidence-based nutritional and supplementation information with citations to peer-reviewed research.
2. Not Veterinary Medical Advice
Ned is not a veterinary service, and nothing provided through the Service constitutes veterinary medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
The health insights, biological age estimates, nutritional protocols, and supplement information provided by Ned are for educational and informational purposes only. They are generated from peer-reviewed research and general veterinary knowledge, not from an examination of your specific animal.
You should always consult a licensed veterinarian before making any changes to your dog's diet, supplement regimen, medication, or health care routine. Do not delay seeking veterinary care based on information provided by Ned.
Ned does not replace the professional judgment of a licensed veterinarian who has physically examined your dog.
3. Biological Age Estimates
The biological age calculator is based on Herzig et al. (2024), “A biological age based on common clinical markers predicts health trajectory and mortality risk in dogs,” GeroScience 47(1):45-59. The algorithm uses coefficients derived from a study of 829 dogs tracked over 12 years.
Biological age estimates are approximationsbased on population-level data. They do not account for your dog's complete medical history, physical examination findings, breed-specific factors beyond those included in the model, or individual genetic variation.
A biological age estimate is not a diagnosis, prognosis, or prediction of lifespan.
4. Health Protocols and Nutritional Information
Ned provides nutritional and supplementation information based on peer-reviewed veterinary research. Each recommendation cites its source with a link to the corresponding PubMed record.
These protocols are general educational information, not personalized veterinary prescriptions. The appropriate diet, supplement type, dosage, and frequency for your specific dog depends on factors that only a veterinarian who has examined your dog can assess, including but not limited to: body condition, concurrent medications, organ function, allergies, and individual tolerance.
Ned does not sell, manufacture, or endorse any specific food product, supplement brand, or medication. No brand partnerships, sponsorships, or affiliate relationships influence the information provided.
5. AI-Powered Lab Report Parsing
Ned uses artificial intelligence to extract marker values from uploaded lab reports (PDFs and images). While we strive for accuracy, AI parsing may occasionally misread values, units, or reference ranges.
You are responsible for reviewing the extracted data before saving it. Always verify parsed values against your original lab report. Ned is not liable for decisions made based on incorrectly parsed data.
6. Your Data
You retain ownership of all health data you upload to Ned. We do not sell, share, or provide your individual data to third parties.
We may use anonymized, aggregated data (with no personally identifiable information) for research purposes, including improving the accuracy of our algorithms and contributing to the understanding of canine health at a population level.
You may delete your account and all associated data at any time through the Settings page or by contacting us.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Ned and its operators, officers, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to: loss of health or life of any animal, veterinary expenses, emotional distress, or loss of data, arising from or related to your use of the Service.
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
8. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Ned and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or any action you take based on information provided by the Service.
9. Research Citations
Ned cites peer-reviewed research via PubMed identifiers (PMIDs). Citations are provided for transparency and educational value. The inclusion of a citation does not constitute an endorsement of the cited study's conclusions, nor does it imply that the findings are directly applicable to your individual dog without veterinary interpretation.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify users through the Service or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
